If you’ve ever ordered anything from S&G, you know we pack a personal note with each of our orders. It’s our way of saying thank you and showing that we really mean it. We love the idea of you knowing we took time out of our schedules to write these messages by hand for you.
Sure, it would be a lot easier for us to order packs of printed thank you cards that say the exact same thing, but would they mean as much?
To us, the answer is no. We believe that there is meaning and significance behind the obvious presence of the human touch. We believe that the easy way is not always the best way. And most of all, we believe in always going the extra mile when it comes to the people we care about most.
Unfortunately, our society’s obsession with technology means thoughtful handwritten notes are quickly becoming an endangered art form. While text messages, Snapchat and group messages have made communication easier, they haven’t made it any more meaningful.
Imagine that you walked to your mailbox this afternoon expecting the usual bundle of bills and catalogues and instead found a handwritten note from a friend you haven’t heard from in awhile or a family member far away. How special would you feel? How many times would you reread the words on the paper? How much more loved would you feel than if you just received a quick text?
That is why we believe in the power of handwritten notes.
Remember those valentines you used to pass around to your classmates in grades school? You would stand in the Valentine’s Day aisle and obsess over which box of characters or designs you were going to choose. Barbie or Cheetah Girls? Princesses or the holographic sports pack? Sometimes you would even tape a sucker or heart shaped chocolate on them if you really wanted to go all out.
You’d pass them out proudly to your classmates, always saving the biggest one for your teacher. At the end of the day, you’d go home with a bag full of cards from all your friends and crushes and feel like the most admired person on the planet.
While we may have graduated from pink zebra print cards with Aaron Carter’s face printed on them or the ever popular puppies and kittens box, physical love notes certainly haven’t lost their effect.
At S&G we believe these tangible symbols of love are both priceless and timeless. Slow down this Valentine’s Day, or any day of the year, and take the time to write out a note or two. Heck, go full blown Noah from the Notebook and write one everyday for a year. (That Allie was one lucky girl.)
Shop our collection of greeting cards and find the one that’s perfect for that special someone in your life. Decorate the envelope with a fancy hand lettered address, include a photo of you together or a gift card to their favorite restaurant or coffee shop.
It’s the little things in life that can have the biggest impact. Go ahead, make someone’s day. Fill both their mail box and and their heart with a sweet token they can keep forever.
